Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men. Colossians 3:23

Hello there and welcome! My name is Raven Neivel. I am wife to my Beloved, Chad, and mother to our precious daughter, Gracelynn, and our bubbly Cocker Spaniel, Bingley. Most importantly, I am a woman who knows peace with God because my guilt has been removed by Jesus Christ who paid the debt for and forgave my sins. I am a redeemed child of God and give Him praise for His amazing work of freedom in my heart! In my single and early married years, I served in the music ministry at our local church and have a great appreciation for music that ministers the truths of God. Now I am a stay-at-home mom living in the sunny south where God has planted us in a small piece of woods in the midst of the city (a gift perfectly fitted to my country-girl heart). As I grow into my role as a student of God's Word, wife, mother, homemaker, family member, friend, and all the other things God has designed for me to be, I understand with so many others how easy it is to become complacent and weighed down with the mundane or busy parts of life so that we lose our joy in living. Christ said that He came that we might have life more abundantly (John 10:10) but we don't always feel abundant especially when life gets busy and we have run ourselves raged. When I find myself in a joyless rut, I hear God's voice calling my attention to Him saying "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30) I learn from God that He is the true rest and satisfaction for my soul. My relationship with Him is what gives true joy in the midst of a topsy-turvy world. I believe that God means for our relationship with Him to have an affect on and be a part of everything else we do in life. We cannot realistically isolate ourselves to a corner for Bible reading all day nor should we. We are called to live out our walk with God in the midst of our everyday lives. And there is joy in Christ to be found in every day... even in the mundane, routine, busyness ... as we do those everyday things for the Lord and not ourselves or men's applause.

In this season of my life, God is calling me to be a wife and mother as unto Him (which goes beyond my ability and depends completely on His abundant ability and grace). In my journey of seeking God's thoughts on marriage, mothering, and homemaking, I've come across a multitude of ideas, gadgets, skills, lessons, etc. that make these roles a joy. In my journey, I am always looking for ways to live life more godly, naturally, economically, and healthily.
I also love sharing ideas with other women to gain from their wealth of experience. Everyday Joys is my journal of favorite things that has in some way enriched our lives or played a part in making the role of wife, mother, & homemaker more fun and joy-filled. I welcome comments and ideas from others as I'm sure we have much to learn from each other!
